Well here's the scoop. I'm looking for a new sled for my wife for the fall of this year. She is kind of picky so I'll give you all the criteria that will be involved in my consideration.
1. Suspension must be able to be stiff and she likes to sit high on the sled
2. Throttle must be easy and not be far from the handle bar
3. A lighter sled
4. Something more then her 440 fan but not any bigger then a 500 liquid.
5. Narrow seat
6. Electric start and reverse
She likes the feel of the suspension and how she sits on my '06 fusion. Her favorite throttle is the one on her '01 Z440 and her least favorite is on her sister in-laws (who also hates it) early '00s/late 90's SXR 500. The throttle on my sled and that of her brother's '02 warrior (long track RX1) and her father's '05 venture makes her hand hurt after a while. Would anybody know if a fuel injected sled be easier on her hand?
She has ridden her brothers and fathers sleds (both with longer tracks) and doesn't like the turning, especially at the speeds she goes on hard packed trails, which she rarely goes off of (30 - 50 mph). She loves the narrower seat on my fusion compared to that of her 440 and would like a little more grunt going up hills and crossing a lake, although she'd probably never have it to the bar. After tons of research and magazine reading in the off season (owww, twist my rubber arm) I've compiled a list of new sleds to look at. If anybody has suggestion for other new sleds or non-currents that you would think she would like, please let me know. So here we go, for Polaris the only sled that would fit her power requirement would be a IQ 550F shift. For Ski-doo I was thinking 550F GSX or the rev xp TNT with the 500ss motor. For Arctic Cat the possibilities are the F570 or the F500 liquid. Finally, for Yamaha I was thinking a Phaser GT(I heard these were tippy) or a Vector (possibly too heavy) although she likes the look of the Vector the best out of all the one's mentioned. If any of you have one of these or have any opinions or seat time please let me know. I know the magazines say a lot but as we all know finding unbias in them is next to impossible. Thanx in advance, and before next season I'll give you all an update on the choice and how she likes it.
